  1. he's going to hendricks to win

    daytona 500

    the cup

    2 things he's never won

got 2 years to do it in

  2. Is he really moving to Hendricks?  Thats terrible!  They have the 3 best drivers in NASCAR and now they are getting someone like Mark Martin?

Are you serious?  I haven't seen this on ESPN or anything...

Ok so I just looked it up on NASCAR.com and obviosuly you are right.  But still...What do you think?  Is it just a money issue or what?  He isn't that great a driver, why would Hendrick make a move like that?

  3. Mark Martin also realized you can't win a championship at DEI - not the way it is right now, anyway..............

  4. He'll never win that championship, and he should have retired after this season.

  5. He's still a good driver who can tutor young drivers in the lower ranks. People would know him as a champion if NASCAR hadn't screwed him over in 1990.

And who said he's no good?

5-time IROC champ, that's more than Dale Sr.

    13 IROC wins.

48 Busch Series wins, most all time.

    35 Cup Wins

3 second place Cup points finishes.

Sounds like a crappy driver to me.

  6. Nope, I don't like Mark going to Hendricks, but if it wins him a championship, good.

About his retirement, I've said it before and I'll say it again: haven't you ever made a decision and it turn out to be the wrong one? I think he honestly thought he was ready to retire, maybe was afraid his performance would slip--and then found out that his skills weren't slipping and he wasn't ready to give it up after all. If you got one more chance to make a dream come true, wouldn't you take it?

  7. HMS is smart, they got Mark because of his experience....He,s also a good peace maker for the crews...

  8. I am forced to be a fan of anyone at Hendrick except for when Ky. busch was there. I already did like Mark, but you're right. He shouldn't hog up a seat so he can "try" to win some races he should go full time and "try" to win some championships which is what he now can do. He will next year be my fourth fave driver. For now, that spot belongs to Casey Mears.

Notice that this the 2nd time in 2 years that the driver of the N0. 8 car is leaving to go to Hendrick Motorsports.

  9. yeah it's pretty annoying he said he was gonna retire a million years ago and he is still racing geez man

  10. I can't believe he signed a two year deal. I don't know about full-time in 2010 though but I used to like Mark Martin until he got us all stirred up over his last race and comes back the next year and runs almost the whole schedule.

  11. I was a bit surprised to see Martin sign there but he is a great driver out there and with great equipment can do rather well.  I do not like the retiring over and over c**p either but Mark can still win and that is better than the DW syndrome of running terrible for a year.   They changed the rules because of his antics so as long as it is not like that, which it wont be, I guess it is ok.

Thats funny Winter Glory, so many call it Hendricks, or Hendrix and it cracks me up every time.   They are new so cut them some slack I guess. :)

  12. Mark made it clear that he was never retiring.  He specifically said he was just cutting back.  He corrected many reporters when they asked him about retiring.  Jack Roush just wouldn't offer him a part time ride, so he chose to go elsewhere.  Now with the offer from Hendrick, how could he turn that down?  He would be foolish to turn it down.  Can't blame Mark for taking a ride with the top organization.

  13. Shouldn't a fan be able to spell their favorite drivers name?

It's Jimmie, and he drives for Rick Hendrick, no "s".

As far as Mark, he's been in this game a long time, and has no championship to show for it, I can understand him wanting to go to HMS in an attempt at one last shot. He's a good driver, and is championship worthy.

Be interesting to see just how much better that #5 car rides next year. And how the cars of Triple J will ride.
