I can't believe people think there is such thing as "clean coal"! Do people know about Mountain Top Removal?

  1. Actually, most of the coal used today comes from western mines, largely in Wyoming, thats why if you live near a train track you see cars full of coal heading east, and empty cars going west. Mountain top removal was used more in the West Virginia region that today produces a small proportion of the nations coal. While it makes a great talking point for environmentalists that think we should only get power from peddling a bicycle, it isnt really much of an issue anymore.


  2. 'Clean coal' really isn't clean.  It just means they capture the CO2 emitted at the coal power plant before it goes into the atmosphere, so it doesn't contribute to global warming.

    It's basically just a stopgap solution until we move more toward renewable energy, but I certainly agree with you that 'clean coal' is a misnomer.  There is no such thing.
