How do i capture video's from a digital camera onto window's movie maker it says a video capture device was not detected

  1. Your question is fairly vague, but I'll try my best to answer.

    If your camera is MiniDV, you have to plug it in by Firewire to your computer. If you have no Firewire ports, you may need to buy a Firewire card.

    If you have an HDD camera, you can plug it in by USB and take the clips directly from it (go in My Computer and click on the camera).

    If you have a DVD camera, you have to finalize the disk and put it in your DVD drive, from where you can, once again, drag the clips.

    I'm assuming you have a MiniDV camera. If you have it plugged in by Firewire and it is recognized by Windows but not by Movie Maker, consider using other software, such as Adobe Premiere or Vegas.

    If it is not recognized by Windows (audio signal when you plug it in and dialog asking what to do), it is possible you have blows a fuse on your camera by plugging it in while it was on. This will require repairs.
