  1. There's two other possibilities..

One, you may have been tagged as part of the DHS Terrorist Watch List.  In additional to extra screening, you may have to produce additional identity verification.

Two, the flight is overbooked (if you already have a seat assignment, this is probably not the case).

  2. MadMan is right, you have been "flagged" for additional screening.  This is really no big deal, just leave yourself some extra time as they will search any carry-on bags you have and will pull you off to the side for your person to be searched.

The only time this is really a problem is when the airport is busy and there are several people waiting to be searched.

Get to the airport two hours before your flight, and it will be stress free!

  3. It may be that United has changed equipment types on your flight, ie. from a B-757-200 to a B-737 or B-767.

Just check in at the airport, and don't worry.

    Regards,

    Dan

  4. You might have been flagged to extra security (fun!) or if you are trying to check bags it will do this.
