Hi, I recently installed ubuntu 8.04 on my computer (I'm dual-booting ubuntu and vista).

However, for some reason, I can't connect to any wireless network on Ubuntu. My network card is:

Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG

When I click on the wireless network icon, it shows me a list of available wireless networks, but when I try to connect to my router, it won't let me. It asks me for the WEP key, which I type in correctly, then it tries to connect, and gets stuck on trying to connect (it never actually connects).

Does anyone know how I can fix this? (If more information is needed, i'll gladly give it).

  1. If you are using the network manager that is preinstalled, you may want to try using a different network manager. I have never had any success with the default network manager. I would recommend Wicd (http://wicd.sourceforge.net). It is the only network manager that has every worked for me with my ndiswrapper setup.
