I can't connect to xbox live (10 PTS)!!!!!!!!?

Question

i have a DSL... i can't connect to my pc with local connection so i use wireless...

i have a laptop so instead of carrying the cables of the modem i figured i'd take the laptop and using its ethernet port i could simply connect it to my xbox...

is there a way to have my computer share the connection using the ethernet port (i have vista)...

Not that I know of. My suggestion would be to get a ethernet cable or some kind of wireless ethernet cable that you connect to your modem. You need an IP address to connect to xbox live so when you connect it to your computer, the computer is using the IP address. Now once you get the ethernet cable, you might need to get a router. If the ethernet port is already being used on your modem, and you want dont want to continue to disconnect the other cord and plug in the xbox live cord and vise versa, you may want to get a router. Since im not a huge geek, I would recommend that you go to best buy or circuit city and ask the pros. Best Buy helped me a lot and helped me save money. I know that it can be really confusing in the beginning but after you have it running, its pretty sweet. Good Luck and I hope this helps somewhat.

if you have the wireless extension for xbox 360 just go on your laptop and click "start", then "run...", type "cmd", the black command window will pop up, then in there type "ipconfig" and hit enter.

it will show all your connection info and just put that all into the xbox wireless settings....

if you have a wireless router you have to call the company that makes it (wont take long), and have them walk you through checking your router settings so that it will be guaranteed to work and you won't even need to use an ethernet cord.

Yea. You have to setup an internet gateway. If you use network connection wizard on the laptop you can set it to connect directly to the internet and other computer will use that one to connect. From there you need to set up your network connection on your XBOX.
