Question:

I can't decide whether to retake that ACT...?

I took the SAT and I got a 1830.

Since that was my first time, I will be retaking it even though I feel confident about it.

The ACT however, I only scored a 23 on it. I did not prepare for it nor try too hard as this was the middle of summer.

I don't feel that I should retake the ACT because frankly, I don't care about it. I like my SAT score, and will be retaking that but most colleges I see ask for sat OR act.

Should I spend 40 more dollars to retake that test?

I do not feel that it would be worth it, even though I know I would get a better grade. (Perhaps I'll remember my calculator next time if I retake it)

If this helps, I have a 3.5 gpa, and take all these AP classes. Should I retake the ACT?

  1. You don't need to that is a good score (on the SAT)

  2. Colleges don't need both scores. Since you are planning on taking the SATs again, just focus on that, and send that score to colleges.

  3. you can retake to see if you get a better score.

  4. You can use the concordance table given below to figure out which test you scored better on.  If you are happy with your SAT score then you are done.  Of course, most students don't realize the benefits of a higher score (getting into a better school, more financial aid, honors college, athletic scholarship requirements... etc.)

You should also skip the writing portion of the exam.  College's don't require it (yet?).
