I can't delete a shortcut?

Could not find this item

This is no longer located in C:/User/Admin/Desktop/--file name--

Verify the item's location and try again.

This happens when ever i try to delete it..

Any clue on what to do to remove it?

Just restart your computer once. and somtime it happens  because of Viruses or Spyware so get scannned ur pc.

right-click on that shortcut. If the no. of options in menu is

lesser than what in normal conditions,

Then Shortcut is really a fixed shortcut, which can only be removed,

if you un-install an application related to shortcut.

For Example:  New software installed K Image Mixer. It created non-removable shortcut on desktop. then to remove this shortcut its best

to  un-install the software.

If the right-click menu is displaying normally many options then

do one thing. Open the shortcut by double-click or by right-click >Open

then let Windows search for the Destination file/folder .

Windows after 1-2 minutes, will stop searching for original file and give you prompt "The item that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved. so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

Do you want to delete this shortcut ? "  Now Click on "YES" Button

Shortcut will be deleted.

Hope this solves problem, else final way is to do a virus scan or re-install windows.

well it might be at use by a specific program or a spy ware or something but .if you close all application then try deleting it and if you can get a good anti spyware and anti virus software then i would thing that is it possible to delete the shortcut
