Question:

I can't disable instant search, can anyone help?

According to this page: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/search/basics/basics-11.html I should be able to disable yahoo instant search by going to preferences > page display and un-ticking the relevant box.

But for me, instant search is not mentioned anywhere on that page! I have also tried clearing my browser cookies, and reverting all my preferences back to the defaults, but I still have instant search enabled.

  1. It doesn't appear to have an on/off choice. Try this. Open inet options in the control panel and enter content. In auto fill disable web addresses. This will stop previous searches from showing with each letter typed.


  2. you can turn it off by visiting your "search preference" page.

    Go to http://search.yahoo.com/instant

    on the page that opens scroll down to where it says

    Read our FAQ's and click on that.

    Scroll down to question number 7 and click on it and read the last line there and click on that blue link (search preference page) it has there.
