  1. The video pretty much breaks it down. Just follow the video and break it down and practice and you'll get it. If you've been heavy since you started dancing, no, being "heavy weight" shouldn't be a problem. Because everyone only needs enough strength to support themselves. But if you've recently gotten "heavy" then go to your regular healthy weight and it should be easier to dance there if that's the weight you've been most of your life. So in summary, practice and work hard. It's hard to not give up, but you have to fight through it and fight for it. Good Luck!

  2. I taught myself how to do switch leaps.  The thing that helped me the most was starting with my weaker leg (in my case, my left) in front first, so the stronger leg can do the hard work of swinging through from the back to the front.  It's much easier to move your weaker leg backward.

When I start teaching switch leaps, my students do them with one bent leg (it's easier that way and they understand the concept better) and then when they get stronger they can try it with straight legs.

It's mainly about strength - having the strength to jump high enough to have enough time in the air and having enough strength to swing your legs through to switch them in the air.

    Good luck!
