I can't drop my Mpg. videos to the timeline of Sony Vegas Pro 8 and also without audio?

How can I fix this, do I need a video converter or download something in the internet? My video files are already MPEG but it still won't work with Sony Vegas? If I need a converter, how do you convert to change the format that Vegas reads?

  1. Try importing the files to Windows Media Maker or other media player that you have registered - such as RealPlayer, Quicktime, and such.   If you are able to upload into a registered media program, you should then be able to export the files to a file format you know will work with Sony Vegas.
