I have to use sources to critique "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair. I can't find any REALLY good sources online that can show what labor, living conditions and meat quality were like in the early 1900s. Can anyone help me? NO WIKIPEDIA! I searched (on google) things like "meatpacking in the early 1900s" "life in the early 1900s" etc. No really good results. The story takes place in Chicago.

(In case you were wondering YES I'm doing homework in the summer its for a class.)

  1. It is possible to find information on anything using the Internet, maybe try searching for images from the 1900s can give you some ideas (and visual proof) of the reality of life back then. Examples would include 5 cents for gas and 2 cent cigars from the 30s, good luck. If you have family members from around then maybe they can assist you with memories adn whatnot.
