  1. A common misconception has been mentioned here a few times - it is not correct to say you can only have access via Outlook (or other email programs) if you have MailPlus or a Premium account.  It IS correct to say that you will definitely have access with those and that some free accounts are also able to do this.

Start by signing into your email account and click on the "Options" link.  Look for "POP access and forwarding" or "MailPlus."  If you find a link to MailPlus, you need to upgrade your account before you can use Outlook.  If you find a link to "POP access and forwarding" click on it.

In the new window that pops up, click the circle beside "Web & POP Access", choose what you want done about spam mail and click "Save" (might need to scroll down to find "Save").

Click on "POP Settings" beside "Web & POP Access" and your PERSONAL settings will be shown in a new window.  Use these rather than any given in the general instructions.

For more details about how to set up Outlook (these are general instructions) look for the link at the bottom of the window that has your personal POP settings in it.

NOTE:  If you set up everything else and don't deal with the POP access in your email account, you won't be able to get your emails.  The error message will probably be about a password error.

  2. you have to have yahoo mail plus. to be able to use offline access with pop.

  3. Did you enter your smtp and pop3 or IMAP server address, exact e mail address, password, info?  Did you then go to advanced settings to configure smtp for authentication?  Did you go to advanced settings to make sure you addressed the SSL and port number settings as the mail service directs you?

You cannot and will not achieve connectivity by merely entering the e mail address.  It does not work that way.

Finally if you are using a free e mail service, it is very likely it will not work with Outlook or other e mail clients.  These free services earn revenue from advertisers.  Advertisers will not pay for the service if the ad is not seen by subscribers.  Downloading e mail to an e mail client avoids the ad display.  For this reason most free mail services cannot be downloaded.

Having said the above, if you do not have a free e mail service, go to the mail service provider and check their info on how to set up an e mail client with their service.  All the details are critical.

  4. have you downloaded microsoft outlook connector?? you need this to setup outllok with yahoo. ive mine set up with hotmail.

  5. In order to use outlook and yahoo you have to have the premium yahoo service that you pay for.  The free one is not compatible with outlook.
