So, I'm trying to install version 8.04 of Ubuntu onto my PC, A Compaq EVO D510 SFF, but I can't seem to get it to work. I can run the live session fine, but when I try and install directly from the boot screen, it can't detect my computers Partition Table. in the partition editor. When I try to install it from inside Windows, I try and Boot into Ubuntu, but it comes up with something Called BusyBox,.

I have tried to install this on many occaisions over the last month, and it's always the same result. I use a Western Digital 80GB Hard Drive, with 3 Partitions.

whats going wrong?

  1. it could be that you don't have enough free space to hold ubuntu on any of the three partitions or it could be that the boot disc you have is missing some files. I would check for space then re-download ubuntu and make sure when you mount it to the disc that you write it at 1x speed so you get the best quality and nothing lost.

  2. You might not have enough room. Try looking up dual-booting Vista snd Linux or XP and Linux, whichever one you have.
