  1. I have to ask, are you calling back?? You should always call to check on your application. It will show you are very interested in the job.

Are you writing neatly? That always makes a good impression.

Are you dressing nice? That also always makes a good impression.

  2. You may want to try different types of businesses. The state employment office might be able to help you. You didn't mention how long you have been out of college, but most have a career placement office that will assist new graduates with finding a job. You may want to get someone to work with you in some role playing to practice your interviewing skills and to see how you might improve them. Finding a good job is a numbers game. The more companies that you apply to the closer you are to finding a good job. Hang in there. Good luck.

  3. i was the same way..i applied to 30 places in a month and nobody called back..CALL THEM ask them if the position is still open and let them know you filled out an application..thats what i did and i got 2 calls so far..but now i just recently got a job @ jcpenney

    im happy

  4. It's not you. It's the job market. Keep plugging away and don't give up. Take a break for a day and be good to yourself. Don't beat yourself up because you are NOT alone. Good luck!

  5. It's most likely not you, but the crummy economy.

I've been looking for part-time evening work for about that long too, with no avail.

Keep trying. I'm sure you'll find something, since you are seeking a full time job (assuming).

  6. I wouldn't beat yourself up too much, but ask yourself these questions:

    1) are you over qualified for the position you are applying for? - if they don't feel you are going to stick around, they may pass you up.

    2) do you have practical experience in the positions you are applying for? - if you have a degree but have never 'done' what you are applying for, they may pass you up with someone who has the experience.

    3) if you are interviewing, how are you coming across? - are you not selling yourself enough, or are you being too pushy?

    4) have you given them enough time to respond? - depending on the job, a lot take a while to even review the application much less decide on a list, set up interviews and decide on a candidate.

    5) Last, silly I know, but are the places you applying hiring?

  7. Only 30 places in seven weeks? Honey that only averages around four per WEEK. If you're trying as hard as you like to think you are you need to be applying at least 30 per week. Don't give up. Make sure your resume is current, free of errors, and tailored to the job you're seeking. Start replying to as many as 10-15 per day and see what happens. Averaging only four per week will not get you very far.

  8. probably nothing wrong ,so many people with crazy degrees out there in same position ,trying to get a job is one of the hardest job you will ever have .but you cant just quit until better comes.keep at it

  9. Double check your resume, and make sure you are using a cover letter. Also, sometimes it is possible to be overqualified for a job. In these instances, simplifying your resume can sometimes make it more appealing to an employer.

  10. I feel your pain. I'm in the exact same boat. It's really starting to p**s me off. The last job I interviewed for just called me back today and said they were so impressed with my resume, blah, blah, blah...  yet they still decided to pass on me. WTF??? I don't even know what to do anymore.

  11. revamp your resume

  12. i;m in the same boat, those places you apply at, call them back like eight days after you had the interview, ask to speak with someone in management, if you go and do that with those 30 apps. I bet you will get more than tow interviews.

  13. You are not the only one in this predicament.

Right now, there are hundreds, if not thousands of folks in similar situations, all looking for work.

You have to be patient, don't get discouraged, don't give up.  Continue to do what you are doing, and continue to expand your social network as much as you can.
