I can't get a job so I'm going to make a car washing business?

I need more money, and am to young for a job so I washed my dads truck today and decided I wanted to start a car washing business. I have a very long street and only wanted to wash cars for those people. Should I hang up fliers about my new business on my street? What should I mention on them? Also do you think this is fair....

$7 for a small car?

$10 for a truck/large car?

I don't want to seem like a rip off. Also does anyone have any suggestions for me or advice? Thanks!

  1. Sounds like a great idea. Fliers are good, but you might get the best results talking to your neighbors, knocking on doors of people you know are safe and giving them the fliers.  Make sure your folks know where you are and who you are talking to.  As for the prices you mentioned, they are pretty comparable to drive through car washes in my neighborhood, so you are probably in the ballpark.

You should consider the environment and local laws when washing cars.  In many areas, the street storm drains go directly into local streams and lakes - you sure don't want all that soap, dirt and oil polluting your waterways!  Ask your customers to park on their yard for the wash - so the soapy water will get cleaned by the soil rather than polluting.  And use small amounts of environmentally friendly soap.  Use a sprayer you can turn on and off so you don't waste water.  Check out this website for some info on environmentally friendly car washes.  http://environment.about.com/od/greenliv...
