  1. i can't stand reading lord of the rings, and i read books everyday! I hate reading Harry Potter as well, but im like a huge fan and watch it all the time. You just have to find the right book for you. Like, for me it's Jacqueline Wilson, even though i'm a bit old for them.

  2. i love reading but hey I would never attempt anything like that - boring....

  3. aww don't tell yourself that. i love reading, but i couldn't finish Lord of the rings. it is a really heavy going book and it's hard to get your head around. you need something that is more to your taste, maybe something more personal. by that i mean more emotional and describes more of the characters feelings instead of simply reading something as if you are the observer and can only see from an outside view. Try the redwall series by Brian Jacques, or Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Ifd these aren't to your taste, read Follow me down by Julie Hearn.

notyhing is wrong with you hunni xxxxxxxxx

  4. YES!!! i had the same problem i saw  harry potter and the prisoners of askaban but i couldnt even read atleast 5 chapters of the book!

try reading books which you have not watched movies of

try reading book called spilled water by sally grindley

try to read books related to a topic of your choice like fantasy, history, comedy, autobiography, etc.

if that dosent work than may be reading is not your thing!!

  5. maybe, its never easy to read a book after watching the movie, just like its not easy to watch the movie after reading the book.

  6. when you've seen the movie you know whats going to happen and so there's no wonder in why the books boring you.

Although I read The Godfather and it was awesome to read even though I've seen the film loads. anyway don't read books which you have seen there are loads of other decent books out there. just dedicate your time to read at least 15-30 mins a day and force yourself to do that. Thats what I am doing cause I am going mental at the mo and spend most of my day looking for a job and then take a break like now on answers.

Like you I find it hard to get through books, but what I found was that if I dedicate time to it and force my self no matter how bored I am I should eventually get used to it as it has worked with me a long time ago. At the moment I am at a stage where I pick up the book and get through like 3 pages in half hour! but I force myself to do it. Its not cause have difficulties its cause I'm not used to it and so it makes me feel tired and I can't seem to concentrate with all this other stuff going on but I am determined to keep up and get through whichever books I start reading.

good luck and remember go down to your lib or borrow friends books and make sure its not something you've seen.

  7. Read The Hobbit - it's aimed at children and is very easy to read without being childish.

  8. maybe you just get bored easily, and reading books is not your thing.

  9. I LOVE books, but I can't read ANY books.  You just need to find the ones that you like.  I like girlie fiction.  My mum like history fiction.  I've tried to read hers, they seem interesting but I just can't get past the first few pages.

Go to your library and rent out a couple of books from different sections or authors, or ask the librarian

x*x nothing is wrong with you :)

  10. There's nothing wrong with you, but it does take a certain amount of focus to read certain books with lots of descriptive detail. Many say it's boring - I say those people haven't developed a certain patience and appreciation for good, detailed writing. Or simply prefer loads of action. I suggest reading lots of books you do enjoy and gradually push yourself towards reading more and more complex novels. Rome wasn't built in a day, you know! Good luck!

Also, try with The Hobbit first.

  11. no - its because LOTR is a really hard book to read and can be very descrptive in places - try with something written for children - like Harry Potter or Narnia - and come back to LOTR when you are ready!
