i've used scrubbing bubbles, let the water run on it, nothing seems to budge the dirt. it's nothing horrifying, but it could use a good cleaning. i've scrubbed with sponges, everything!!!

any suggestions??

it's not a smooth surface, it's kind of porous (maybe fiberglass i hear? i'm not sure though) so i'm positive that's the problem. i live in an apartment, so i can't do anything drastic. any suggestions??

i don't wanna buy something new though.

thanks so much for any advice.....

  1. Try bleaching it and then scrubbing some more.  If that doesn't work, get some Lime Away.  I am sure they sell it at like Wal Mart or something.

  2. Fill it up with hot water. If you have vinegar, use it. I have done this and it makes the tub white as ever. You can also add baking soda to it with some soap.

  3. I just got back from vacation and we stayed in a Marriot Comfort Suites... The tub was very, very clean and shiny!  I asked housekeeping what she used on the tub and she said... Liquid Dishwasher detergent.. CASCADE!  Just put a thin coat all over the tub and use a non-scratch scotch-brite brillo and it's clean.... It's worth a try!

    Good luck

  4. I know you dont want to buy anyhting but the two dollars you spend on Magic Eraser by mr. clean will do the trick. It will clean nearly anything, and leave you with a sparkle so bright, that you may need to get some shades too.

  5. Try The Works. I'd read the bottle first cause if it is fiberglass I'm not sure. (I love using the works, just make sure you have windows open and you wear a pair of gloves, that stuff smells. it does a very good job especially when it comes to the toilet). If that don't work try using lime a way. I love to use both.

  6. Heat some White Vinegar just to boiling then wipe on to bath with a nylon scrubber and pour a little Baking Soda on the area and scrub then wait for about two to three hours then scrub a little again and rinse with hot water Good Luck !

  7. Where I live, we have "county water" and it creates mineral build up in the tub, which looks a lot like dirt. If your apartment is old, the stuff that looks like dirt may actually be scour marks from being cleaned too abrasively by previous tenants.

You'll need these things from the Dollar Tree (woo hoo!): rubber gloves, Comet powder bathroom cleaner, some antibacterial dish soap (like Dawn or Ajax), and a scrub brush.

(Wash the curtain and liner seperately.) Get the entire surface of the inside of the shower wet and sprinkle Comet all over it-- the floor, walls, ledges, etc. Let it set for about 15 minutes. Then come back with your scrub brush (wear the gloves), get it wet, and squirt some dish soap on it, and go to town scrubbing your shower. Once it's cleaned to your satisfaction, spray it with some "daily shower cleaner". And spray it every day when you get out of the shower. Give your shower a gentle cleaning every 2 weeks.

  8. I clean tubs with white vinegar and baking soda. First I close the drain and spray vinegar onto the surface of the tub. Then I sprinkle baking soda in it. I let it sit for about 20 minutes and then I scrub it with a sponge or cloth. The baking soda works as a mild abrasive without damaging the surface. Then unplug the drain and rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry it.

  9. I have had the same problem with my bathtub. When I moved in it was disgusting to look at and I tried a bunch of different cleaners and the most it did was fade the stains. But it has been a few months, and I decided a while ago just to give up on it. So I took showers and went on with my business and it eventually came off. So don't get too worked up, it will come off eventually.

  10. Ahhh...I think ur going to have to buy something new try Comet, its in a green cylinder and a rag is always a good scrubber. But if thats not it maybe u just need elbow grease.
