Question:

I can't get the background of a picture to blur out...?

i tried getting the aperture to a 2.8 but everything was still in focus, then i tried protrait mode but that doesn't work either...

somebody said try having the shutter speed to a 1/1000 but the picture turns completely black...

what am i doing wrong?? i'm using a canon powershot by the way...

  1. What focal length lens are you using?

    The wider the focal length the clearer the background will be. Also the further away from the in-focus subject you are the more the background will appear in focus.

    Your best bet is a longer lens with an open aperture, get closer to your subject and that should help your cause.
