Question:

I can't get to sleep?

Every night for the past few days I've had a panic attack when I'm trying to go to sleep. Has anyone got any good ideas to help me not think about what triggers the panic attacks, and focus on getting to sleep. I had to sleep in my little sisters room last night I was that scared. I just need a good method of getting to sleep quick so I'm not lying awake for ages thinking of things. Many thanks, $oph x*x

  1. I suffer from this too sometimes, usually when im a little stressed out or theres something on my mind.

Try reading for a while when u get into bed. Get some lavendar drops or spray and spray it on ur pillow about 15 mind before you go to bed, it aides sleep.

  2. I try reading for a while.  That way my brain is focused on reading.

I hope it gets better sweetie, all the best xx

yeah the other person is right i use lavendar too , just a few drops under my pillow cover.

If I really can't sleep i listen to chilled music and have a big cup of Horlicks.

Big hugs from a wee Scottish lassie xx

  3. try readin difficult book

  4. Don't worry dear' I suffer the same,

    its very common

  5. Here's a technique that I learnt to help me get through my panic attacks quickly...

I simply repeat the words 'cream cake' over and over in my head as quickly as I can without stopping.    You could use any word or words you like really but that's what I chose (because I like cream cakes).  It apparently works because it doesn't give your brain time to process the panicky thoughts and so helps you to relax again.  Seems strange I know ... but it works for me!

There's also a free ebook that I found really useful called 'Get Rid of Panic and Anxiety for Good'. If you want to take a look you can find it at: http://curepanicattacks.premiergold.info...    Even though I got it for free it has helped me absolutely loads!

  6. I find it really hard to sleep sometimes, I usually try and play something in the background...sometimes something on tv i like that relaxs me or music i enjoy. Normally hugging a pillow helps:P or doing something like cleaning or exercise or even a bath :) I also try some nytol when i feel down or when im stressed out but only on occasion, it's not good to rely on it. I hope you manage to get some rest. x
