Question:

I can't go underwater without getting water up my nose..?

What are some suggestions to help me go under without getting water up my nose? Cuz when I do it goes down my throat and burns.. a lot.

I am also a scuba diver, and it is very hard for if I ever have to take off my mask because I get a nose full of water.

It barely helps me to blow out of my nose because I have to KEEP blowing out of my nose underwater to keep it from coming in, and I run out of breath too quickly.

Any suggestions would be GREAT! Cuz I feel lame always needing to hold my nose ;] haha.

Thanks!

  1. have you tried holding your nose and then letting it go underwater? most likely your breathing in.

breath out a little bit to get a bubble in your nostrils.

if you've ever tried to hold in a sneeze, its the same thing....

if you dont let air out, water cant get in.

not sure how to describe it but think of the sneeze thing.

    or a plug/clip like every1 said...

  2. try a nose clip.

they have a ton at sports chalet.

    or any sports store.

you can buy some with this rubber padding and they are a lot more comfy  then they sound.

here is a link to buy them online

  3. think about getting a nose clip,

they really help for not getting water in your nose :]

  4. Since Blowing out your nose is not working for you, may I suggest using Nose Plugs. You can buy them at any Swim Store or Online.

A lot of Synchro Swimmers use them during Practice, too.

  5. i have the same problem... i hate the feeling of water going in my nose. like the others said, nose plugs, or a snorkling mask. i have one for when i scuba dive, so i just use it to swim, too. when scuba diving, if you get water in your nose, you shouldn't take the mask off. just tilt your head upward, hold the top of the mask down, and blow out hard through your nose once or twice. that should clear the water. you can't go very deep with regular goggles while scuba diving, they don't have a nose cover and therefore can't be equalized.

  6. A NOSE CLIP. I have the same  problem for the same reason

  7. You could try nose plugs if you are unable to control the flow of air to your nose.
