I recently purchased a new wireless router to replace the one I currently have. In order to use it I have to hardwire into the internet to program it. "My Connection" is missing and I've tried rebooting while having the computer hardwired. How do I get the computer hardwired?

  1. plug the router in to the computer , go to the cmd prompt type in

ipconfig  look at te default gateway , that is your routers ip

open up internet explorer and type that number in there

probably 192.168.1.1 this will bring you to the routers interface , this is where you enter your account information

the default password for the router is either

    admin and admin

    or admin and password

  2. Try the "Add new hardware" wizard.  The problem is probably that your wired network card isn't recognised by your system because it isn't properly installed.  If you search for new hardware it might turn up :)  Try to get the correct driver for it, too, so that you can install it properly.
