I got talked into going ice skating with my friends this friday and I am pretty much scared of ice skating because the last time I went I fell backward and hit my head really hard on the ice I kind of got a concussion. So what can I do to help me skate better? I have no idea where this place is, if it has a cafe i'll more then likely spend my time there. I am going with two other friends who have no idea how to ice skate also but the other two know how. Can you please help me?

  1. bend your knees is key--lean forward a bit, but not too much or youll end up just throwing your weight around. you probably dont know who this is, but you can look him up--scott hamilton--an amazing past olympic figure skater. when he was three, he was skating and he set his weight back, fell and cracked his head open--im telling you this, not to scare you, but to show you that he did that and he went back out there and gave it another try and became one of the best skaters of all time! so just be determined to do your best and have fun!!!!!!!!

  2. Don't be scared! Make sure your skates fit well and are tightly laced (this makes it easier to support yourself, and prevents ankle injuries). Hold on to the boards as much as you need to. Keep the weight on the back half of your foot, and that will help push you forward instead of flailing around.

  3. Since none of you skate really well, just stick together and take it slow. I'm not very good either and am afraid of falling, but when i have the support of my friends it lightens the mood and encourages me to do better. Just stay close to the edge, it makes you feel a lot safer. It is a good way to get started and find your balance and stop when necessary. If you find that you get there and are too afraid, I don't see any problem with taking a brake and just casually hanging out maybe with some nice hot chocolate.

  4. I've never gone ice skating before sorry buddy.

  5. 1- always try to slide when you fall(its the first thing they teach you in snowplow sam classes)

2- bend forward but not too much or you'll fall forwards

    3-stick with ur friends

4- lace up you skates tightly but not so much that you cant bend.

5- don't try something you know you can't do

6- when in doubt wear a helmet, it'll help soooo much if you fall(idk i never worn one but it will keep your head protected

7-stay warm before and while you skate it will prevent injuries.

    good luck, hope i helped!
