Question:

I can't learn well in a classroom.?

I find sitting in a room with 29 other people, while someone reads and/or recites something, hinders my learning of that subject rather than enhances it. Reading about it from a textbook, on-line or whatever is just so much faster and more clear.

I'm not talking about where something needs to be demonstrated or the student has to try something hands-on, but where the instructor does nothing but talk.

It just bores me to the point of nausea. Its been that way my whole life. Is anybody else like that???

  1. Many kids are like you.  It's one of the reasons homeschooling is so popular.

There's a wonderful book you should read, which might help you figure out how to get out of the classroom environment altogether: http://lowryhousepublishers.com/TeenageL...

    All the best.

  2. Sitting in a class room with a lot of other people can be difficult. There's lots of distractions such as cute boys and girls or goofing off. Maybe it would help if u got homeschooling? That way u wouldn't be with a lot of other people and there would be a lot less of distractions.

If you would rather stay in school so you can be with ur friends try after school tutoring so u can still go to school and be with your friends plus get straight A's! Hope this helps!

  3. Approach your teacher about the possibility of completing an independent study project.  If your academic record indicates that you will get the job done, you should be able to do it.

    Good luck!

  4. If I was your teacher I would want to know about that, so that I could better meet your needs.  Of course, it would be good to hear about it in a polite way, not a "Your class is nauseatingly boring." kind of way.  Why don't you try talking to someone in your school staff that you think might help.  If you approach it well, you may be able to do more independent study.
