I can't open an excel file directly from the file name. I get only a gray screen. ?

I have to go to tool bar, file, open, find the file and then it opens. What's up with this.

hi it sounds as though the excel file is open it's just off the screen to move it back right click on the application at the bottom of the screen now use the keyboards arrow keys until you get it into view, then right click the application at the bottom of the screen again and select maximize.
