Question:

I can't play Call of Duty 4 online! For the PS3, obviously...

Here are the deets (details): When I lived at home my PS3 connected wirelessly to my router and all was good. I played CoD 4 online all the time. But I just recently transferred to UC Irvine and now live on campus. I have to use the Ethernet cable to connect my PS3 to the internet now. It definitely works, I can check my e-mail online, it automatically signs into the PS Network and downloads my friends list and everything. But then when I get to the online play screen where it says "Downloading Game Settings..." and lets you choose what type of game you want to play, it does nothing. It's not frozen because I can still exit out of it, but that gray bar that says "Downloading Game Settings..." just sits there and it does nothing. Any ideas about what the problem may be?

  1. the reason why its doing this is because of firewall... you really cant do nothing with the firewall especially living on campus unless you have the control of your internet service

  2. Ya it the firewall

  3. that happened to me when i got it!!!!

i just let it say "downloading game settings" for a long LONG time and then it finally worked.

but it took about 40 to 45 minutes.

  4. It's hard to say. You should call the tech support number. You might need to download an upgrade (is that an oxymoron?).

  5. I've had this problem before, but unfortunately do not know how to fix/avoid it.  It is very frustrating just waiting to play.  I look forward to seeing if anyone has a solution.  Good Luck!
