I bought an 80GB PlayStation 3 just last week. When I pop in my Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas it says "unsupported data" at the menu screen.

According to the website, it should be able to play GTA SA, so what do I need to do? Is this a problem for systems sold in the US?

  1. d**n cant play gta san andreas ( greatest gta ever better than gta4 )man return that and get the old used ones

  2. How much did your PS3 costs?  Was it 400 or 500 bucks?  My guess is that you got the one that's 400 bucks.  Am I right?  If I'm right, then you get the new 80 gb, which isn't backward compatible.  Sony released the new 80 gb a few weeks ago, and the new 80 gb is just a 40 gb but with a bigger hard drive, so it doesn't have backward compatibility.

The only 80 gb that's backward compatible are the ones that include either Motorstorm or Metal Gear Solid 4.

  3. Looks like you bought new 80GB, which doesn't support PS2 games. It's east to tell the difference - it doesn't have chrome trim and has only 2 USBs.
