Like how in the world can I be a singer. I want to do alternative kind of music and I write my own songs, but I can't for the life of me play an instrument. Where in nashville can I get someone trustworthy to give me some kind of deal, like an artist development company, that will make up the music and still let me sing, all I can find are companies where you have to play your own music. HELP!

  1. then learn how to! go to music school

  2. I suggest getting some voice lessons, because although you may be able to sing already, you can always learn more..and plus you will learn how to read music, and scales if you go to a classical teacher (which I highly suggest) from then, after a few months of lessons I would ask my singing teacher if she knows a agent, who you could audition for..they will help find you gigs..

In the meantime why don't you start a band? Do you know someone who plays the guitar and drums? or someone who plays the piano? See if they like making music, and maybe you guys could buddy up and start a band..

And don't worry about playing an instrument..some singers can't play an instrument..although if you got lessons..and practised you would learn :)

    Good luck x

  3. You're kidding, right?... NASHVILLE? are you SERIOUS?... with all the talent in that town... there are at LEAST 300 UNEMPLOYED Guitar pickers at any given time and the number of UNEMPLOYED SINGER is about 3000 and most of them have PROVEN TALENT.

How do you plan to write music if you can't even READ music?  How do you plan to compete with THOUSANDS of other TALENTED people... and God only knows how many more with little or no talent at all.. and find some "trustworthy to give me some kind of deal" when NOBODY is going to spend time, effort or money on an UNKNOWN TALENT, especially in a town like NASHVILLE.

The music business is the most dog-eat-dog business in the world and you have to bring both TALENT and TRAINING to the table if you ever hope to succeed... because no agent or company is going to take on someone with no talent to offer when they can just toss a rock out the window and hit someone WITH talent.
