I can't ride roller coasters --- please help!?

All my friends love them. They call me a wimp and make me feel bad. In truth, I'm not AFRAID of roller coasters. I seem to have a unique problem. I cannot stand the extreme butterfly feeling in my stomach. Baby roller coasters even give me the feeling. It borders on pain and I hate it.

But I really want to be able to ride them.

They are so awesome. I love thrill and excitement. ...but I've tried screaming as loud as I can to get rid of the feeling in my gut, and that doesn't help one bit.

Please, what can I do?? I feel like I'm missing out.

  1. i have the same problem and wen we went to ceader point w/ all my friends i stayed back for most of it but then i went on the bigest one and then worked my way down. it realy works!!  and whatever u do do not close ur eyes cuz that makes it worse:) belive me!

    good luck!

  2. you shouldn 't do something you don 't wanna do

just because your friends call you a whimp.

having a problem with rollercoasters is normal for people.

next time when your friends wanna ride a rollercoaster

insist on riding a different ride insteadd.

  3. I used to hold on really tight.  It seems like tensing up your body seems to reduce that feeling.

  4. I think you should just go on them you only have one life and you shouldn't let things like that hold you back. I used to be afraid of heights but after being forced up the Eiffell  tower i am no longer afraid and it will give you a buzz just dont think about he pain

  5. i had the same problem ut now that i have went on one i love them i go on them any chance i get. just take a mediciine called dramamine u can buy it at walgreens or cvs or any gas station it takes the dizzyness and queezyness away

  6. Don't take medicine. Trust me on that one.

Just try for one time. If you don't like it.... you never have to go again. If your friends keep saying your a wimp... just say that you are not... you just don't enjoy going on them.

I used to be afraid of going down water slides. But after I went down one... I LOVED THEM!!

If you already went on a roller coaster, then just be cool with that. At least you tried.

    Hope this helps!

  7. There is no way to change how you feel about roller coasters. If you don't like them then don't try to like them. Try to find that "Thrill" in another area

  8. The queasy stomach feeling comes from negative gees.  It happens when your body goes down and you lift from your seat.

Try metal coasters with loops.  these rides keep positive gees on you. Always turn your head and follow the track in front of you, this will reduce the queasiness.

  9. you can start small..maybe some kiddy ones..or rides with no loops..pretty much just up and down and speed..then if you want..ride on some more exciting ones.

sometimes its just all in your mind. think positive..nothing will happen to you. pretty sure once you get it down..you'll be riding rides like nothing. become a thrill-seeker. good luck!

  10. Well first of all, your problem is not unique. My best friend has the same problem. I have ridden all the rides at cedar point and magic mountain and had no problem on any of them but even I have had that problem. When that happens I try to think about feeling good. The butterflies don't go away but when I think about feeling good, the butterflies feel comfortable in a strange way. Hope this helps!

  11. i think this is the same thing as sea sickness, something about the rolling about disturbing your middle ear which is responsible for balance.

open your eyes and pay attention to what you are seeing- that gives your brain a clue as to why you are off balance so with luck that will help you to be less nauseous.

  12. Try asking your doctor for the patch for motion sickness. I completely understand, although I love rollercoasters and will ride any, I can not get on my childrens trampoline without feeling quizzzie, and takeing a cruise was worse. There is all types of motion sickness and pretty much everyone has one or another.

  13. Go on something so incredibly fast that you don't have time for butterflies.

example, in cedar point - Top Thrill Dragster (120MPH, like 10 second ride)

or at one of the six flags, i forget, Kinda Ka (128MPH)

these are both the same, kinda ka just out does Dragster

  14. The butterfly feeling in your stomach is the heart of the roller coaster. If you don't like it, dont go on it.

  15. I used to afraid too. I went on one and thought I was going to die. I closed my eyes and when it finsihed I wasn't dead so I was satisfied that roller coasters are safe. Close your eyes the first coupe of time you go on the roller coaster.

  16. just like the first guy posted i was always afraid of them to and what made me go on it was that if u really think about it your not gonna die or anything its just a ride and also when i heard them my little 9 year old girl cousin went on the scariest rides at 6flags great America i was like o h**l no im going on it and i did!

  17. there is nothing else that you can really do, the best you can do is keep on sreaming and deal with the better flies.

it is better than missing out having fun with your friends.

    ~hope this helps~

  18. take a Xanax before your ride. it helps.

  19. i used to be afraid of them. but one day my friends literally DRAGGED me onto the titan, the six flags in arlington, tx. but yeah, they dragged me on there andddd ever since then, i've fallen in LOVE with roller coasters. i LOVE the adrenaline the circulates throughout my body whenever you go down taht first, deep drop. =]

  20. ha i have the same prob but my friends made me go on them at six flags lol. i went on the batman it it twists and go upside down and thats the first time ive ever been on those kinds, plus its when my feet hanged so i felt queezy, but once i got on i closed my eyes i opened them a few times and i guess i felt better, just work your way up with roller coasters. try ones that just do a wave like up and down then if youre okay with it go on some that twist or go upside down you should be fine

  21. Have you tried painkillers?

My sister has the same problem, she takes painkillers, and they seem to work.

Well, advil didn't but tylenol did.
