I do not like wearing eyeglasses either.  I agree with you there.  You can wear contact lenses or only wear your eyeglasses when you need them for good distance vision - e.g. driving, movies, seeing the board in school.

I suggest that you ask your optometrist about eye surgery.  The optometrist would be able to provide the best advice on that one.

Nowadays there are 3 options for correction of near sighted ness.1st is to wear eye glasses ,2nd is to use contact lenses and 3rd is to under go a surgery.1st option is the safest one and the 3rd is the most permanent one as well the most risky one.The most popular surge for correction of refractive errors are Laser surgeries including LASIK and PRK.In the former one a thin layer of the cornea is removed temporarily and after remodeling of eye surface the flap is replaced on its original place.In the latter (PRK) only the very superficial layer of the eye surface (cornea) is removed then after performing the remodeling procedure with Laser beams , the eye surface is allowed to heal by itself during 3 days.Both methods are almost safe and you can under go one of them.
