I can't seem to figure out why the sound on my computer sounds horrible? Please someone help?

I have had problems with the sound/speakers on my Dell Inspiron Computer. It sounds garbled and you can hear the background sound and nothing in the foreground. I've tried adjusting the settings but it's not any better. Can someone please give me some steps or advice. The computer is an 07' and it is suppose to have internal speakers, I have hooked up my own speakers and it still doesnt work. Please help. Thanks

You internal speakers run off of your internal audio chip usually, back then, and it wears out and can also get corrupted drivers. I would suggest the best thing for you to do is to go and get a reasonably cheap sound card and plug it in, install the drivers and plug in your speakers. That should permanently solve it.. The other option is to re-install your sound drivers, and that will work until your drivers are dumped or corrupted again.
