I can't seem to screen shot with my Hp laptop?

I've tried following the "PRT SC", how to screen shot instructions online, and it just doesn't seem to work on my laptop.

However, when i tried on my mom's Sony VAIO laptop, it works?

I was wondering if there is just no way you can do a screen shot on my laptop, or theres another way that is DIFFERENT from what usually works for everyone.

PLEASE HELP!

thanks. lol

  1. **edit***

--> that is a really weird problem, but you can bypass the whole thing by downloading a very small and convenient utility called "Screenshot Utility"

Check the source for the link, its free and works great. Let me know if that doesn't work. ^_^

no problem, its just a little different...

when you press the PRT SC button, it copies that image to your computers clipboard.

Simply open Microsoft Paint -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint

    or Run -> mspaint

Once in Paint, click "Edit" -> "paste" and save your file!

  2. I had that prob once with my Gateway lappy and found out that I had accidently hit the SysRq key that's right beside it. I reset the SysRq again and reset something so the print screen worked again........ !!

    EDIT: from Wikipedia..:

"On 84-key keyboards, SysRq was a key of its own. On the later 101-key keyboard, it shares a physical key with the Print Screen key function. One must hold down the Alt key while pressing this “dual-function” key to invoke SysRq.

The default BIOS keyboard routines simply ignore SysRq and return without taking action. So did the MS-DOS input routines.[1] The keyboard routines in libraries supplied with many high-level languages followed suit. Although still included in most PC keyboards manufactured, and some debugging software uses it, the key is of no use for the vast majority of users, except that it is usually combined with the Print Screen key."

... I just played with it again and it did cut off the Print scrn key.... (shrug) EDIT2 .... use the alt key with it and good luck.!

  3. I believe all you can do is print screen, paste in "paint" (the application). Save it and then edit it if you want.

    Sorry
