I can't sleep, what should I do?

I've tried melatonin and prescription sleeping pills and nothing works. I've been on tylenol pm for the past month and now it's not working either. The glass of warm milk bullshit doesn't work for me, so serious answers only.

  1. Techniques you've probably already tried but are still worth trying again.

    * See a Doctor

    * Take a Warm Bath

    * Get a Massage

    * Listen to Music

    * Drink Warm Milk

    * Drink Herb Tea

    * Eat a Bedtime Snack

    * Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol and Tobacco

    * Sleep in a Well-Ventilated Room

    * Sleep on a Good Firm Bed

    * Sleep on Your Back

    * Get Some Physical Exercise During the Day

    * Keep Regular Bedtime Hours

    * If You Can't Sleep, Get Up

    * Don't Sleep In

    * Get Up Earlier in the Morning

    * Keep Your Bed a Place for Sleep

    * Avoid Naps

    * Avoid Illuminated Bedroom Clocks

    Of course there's the standard technique that everyone knows (although it never worked for us)

    * Counting Sheep

    And some techniques you probably haven't seen before

    * Sleep With Your Head Facing North

    * Don't Watch TV or Read Before Going to Bed

    * Toe Wiggling

    * Quiet Ears

    * Some New Suggestions from Readers

    Good luck! Have a pleasant sleep!

  2. try thinking of angels

  3. Well you can try an exercise that worked for me.

    When you lay down :

    As you breath in, say "Relax"

    As you breath out, say "Sleep"

    You might be surprised at how well you can fall asleep.

  4. Stop thinking about it.  Your body will sort it out in time and you won't come to any harm meantime.  The more you try, the harder it is.

  5. Find out what the problem is that stops you from sleeping.  Is it Life, is it People,  is it life style.  If you can not find a problem in life then it is just your biological clock.  it is out of sync.  Look to your food or drink.

    No answer here then just be patient, if you need to work early then in time your body will get back into sync.  Honest.

  6. try to use up as much energy during the day as possible.

    like run around and all that

    also, try to adjust your sleeping habits, maybe?

    when you DO get sleep, only get a little

    so later, you'll be so tired, you will have adjusted your sleeping habit

    it sounds lame, but it works for me whenever i need to adjust it.

  7. hmm run around during the day like work out and then run around everywhere and see if that makes you sleepy just do alot so that st the end of the day you have no more energy left
