  1. see a doctor, a psychiatrist. try sleeping pills, they'll give you a better brand than over the coutner ones. plus they can prescribe anxiety medicines like ativan or prozac

  3. Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, in bed, after lights out, at  http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris

(The following is a variant of Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, insomnia, and anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective. It is easy to be dismissive of such a seemingly unusual technique, but give it a good tryout, for at least a few weeks, to see if it is effective in your case).

Prior to using either of the methods in the above paragraph, first sit comfortably, and take a deep breath. Then, without moving your head, move your eyes from the left, to the right, and back again, taking around a second to do so (say: "a thousand and one": this takes approximately a second).

Repeat this procedure (without the words, although you can count, subvocally, if you like) 20 times: "A thousand and one; a thousand and two... " and so on, to a thousand and twenty. Then close your eyes and relax. Become aware of any tension or discomfort you feel.

Then open your eyes, and take another deep breath, and repeat step one, closing your eyes, and relaxing afterwards, in the same manner. Then, repeat the procedure one last time. Some people may find that this is all they need do.   With experience, you may find that you can practise this in public, with your eyes closed, which greatly widens the window of opportunity for its use, and avoids attracting unwanted attention. I have found that the 2 - 3 minutes spent using the EMDR markedly reduces distractions to the relaxation process, and is repaid many times over.

I also use it prior to my chosen relaxation technique, after lights out, at night. For more about Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing therapy, showing recommendations by those who have used it, including a professional psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience in that field, see sections 33 - 34, at ezy-build. She was skeptical, at first, and I remained unconvinced, until trying it, and now I use it twice daily, including after lights out, at night.

Become proficient in a relaxation method, and the EMDR: use both if necessary, as well as the other tips in section 3, at ezy build.

  4. Chamomile Tea and Melatonin..those two mixed together are the best sleep remedies..also, clear up the problems that you are having.

  5. Try drinking a warm cup of milk before you sleep or do exercise that will make you tired.

  6. do you watch crime shows? I usually have nightmares after watching them. If you do I'd lay off, this may help.

  7. Tylenol PM...works wonders but only do what the bottle recommends don't exceed. What is causing you to think of such thoughts? Stress? What helps me sleep sometimes is exercise. Around 7:00 ill go out and run and by the time 11:00 runs around I can fall asleep easily because I feel well rested. Ease your mind you will not be murdered. Just make sure your windows are locked and so is your door.

  8. You are developing Insomnia. I have it too. But its not out of fear, for me it's more out of anxiety. Everynight I go to sleep until 12:00 midnight or sometimes 2:00 am because i wanted to just do something more before the night is over like watch tv or play video games or have s*x and its becoming a problem. Its rediculous that i cant just go to sleep at the appropiate time. What has worked for me is drink a hot cup of jasmin tea before you go to bed. If you're by youreslf all the time that is one of the reasons why you begin to get wierd thoughts because you are not interacting with people as much as you have to. So when you are by yourself you start to listen to youre thoughts more often than you have to. It deals alot with how you take care of youre self. Dont eat after 7:00 pm. When you eat heavy foods like chicken, pizza, hamburgers, heavy calorie foods at night your system has to speed up your motabolism so it can digest it. That speeds up youre heart, blood and the brain, which causes you to get a thinking meltdown. Ask your doctor, he/she will probably tell you the same thing.

And if your a crank user (crystal) then youre definitely screwed because that's the main reason why somebody would have insomnia.

    So lay off the Drugs!!!!!

  9. I recommend that you get some counselling. Obviously you are terrified of being murdered and it has affected your sleeping pattern tremendously which you know can allow your psychical body to become overexhausted. You can consider the following:

    1. When did this fear begin to occur? Was it because of some personal traumatic event or was it because something you heard on the news that has affected you?

    2. Recognize the reality of the situation. If you lock all your doors at night and you have a secure alarm system then that would less likely mean that someone would be able to enter your home. Although crime is real you shouldn't be living in a constant state of fear or paranoia.

    3. Talk to a friend about how you are feeling. Talking to someone can help you to cope more with your fears.

4.Pray about it. Ask God to protect you from all harm and danger and ask him to remove the fear from you. Read the bible (more specifically Psalms 56 which encourages persons not to fear).

    5. Be careful what you watch and listen to. If you keep watching movies and other shows highlighting murders you are feeding your fear. I am not suggesting neglecting to watch the news because one needs to always know what is going on in the world. Be also careful as well what you watch in the night because that can affect your ability to get proper sleep.

Just so you know I know exactly what you are going through. Because I am going through something similar to you so you are not alone in this. Take care and God bless!!!!

  10. i have some what of the same problem but the way i coped is, i moved my bed to a corner wall i put in dark curtains so i cant see out or in. and i also lock my bedroom door. and to add to my problem i have a pee bottle i use so i don't have to leave the room at nite..it helped alot

  11. Don't drink any caffeine and eat lots of turkey.

FYI...   Turkey has the essential amino acid tryptophan.  Tryptophan is converted in your body to serotonin which is further converted into melatonin.  Melatonin levels are highest at bedtime and this helps you sleep.  Hope this helps.

  12. Lay off the drugs?

  13. well buddy

time to see your psico doctor

  14. You need to relax, you obviously value life very much, has something triggered this off? you may need to see someone about it, however for the mean time before going to bed lock all doors and windows, if need be keep a phone by your bed, that way you should feel safe that if there is an emergency you can just call, then try some really warm milk or camamile tea to drink before bed, leave about two hours after eating before you go to bed, have a warm bath, shower might wake you up, warm up your room not too hot though and relax, lay comfortably with your eyes shut, try to lay as still as possable and dont open your eyes, think of nice things like sunny days at the beach with a blue sky over head and birds flying by. if all else fails get a pet like a cat or a dog to keep you company.

  15. hi there,

u know the responses u received so far are so dangerous for u.i recommend not to listen to any of them.first of all its really important to know that being that paranoid does not have a good prognosis if u delay your treatment.paranoid persons can suffer from either bipolar disorder or may be schysophrenia.

the thing u should know is that after twenty minutes that u see u can not sleep u should leave the bed listen to music(if u can) watch the tv,and just use the bed for s*x and nothing else even reading a book.

the nect thing is that u should not take any medicine by your own drugs like valium and such drugs m,ake u addicted seriously and even make your paranoid statues worse.so go to a therapist as soon as possible and be sure a mental disorder responds to treatment much better in its acute phase to drugs.

be sure u will get good.

  16. See a doctor and get a prescription for a temporary sleeping aid.  Maybe after you sleep good for a few nights, these night terrors will go away and you'll be OK.  Or, when you tell the doctor about your fears, maybe he'll put you on some other type of medication - like an anti-anxiety medication that will help you.

I hope you get some help.  What you go through is terrible and must be making you feel nuts.

  17. TAKE MORE DRUGS?

  18. I have the exact same problem, seriously - I haven't slept properly in a few months. I've asked my parents to refer me to the therapist I had for depression last year, and I recommend you do the same.

You don't sound ridiculous at all. With all these crimes on the television, it's only natural that we are afraid, but sometimes our anxiety gets mixed up in this and we get ridiculously paranoid. It's an awful feeling and not many people understand it. Ignore everyone here who's said you're going crazy, because you're not. Just talk to someone, and you can get help. :)

    Good luck!
