Question:

I can't sleep at night & dunno why?

I'm 15 and i don't think its healthy for me, i fall asleep as late as 4-5 am... i can't take medicines cuz my family doesn't no about me sleeping dat late and i don want them finding out... i have my reasons; don ask... anywho i tried everything like reading books and ****, still can't sleep i think way too much!! anyone know how i can shut my brain faster?

  1. dont play videos games

    or watch tv or

    go on the computor

    before u want to go to sleep

    and eat a bowl of cereal right

    before u go to sleep it helps  


  2. Try drinking warm milk before going to bed. I always had problems sleeping and as much as I HATE warm soy milk, it does make you sleep faster. [it can also be normal milk, i can only take soy milk because i'm lactose intolerant] Also, try not to exercise 3 hours before you go to bed or drink any caffeine. Don't eat after 8 pm because it'll not only make you retain more fat but it can either make it harder to sleep or wake you up more during the night. If you're stressed out, try yoga. You'll think less about tomorrow and what's going to happen. I started worrying about my sleep when my eyes got puffy & it just made me look older, so i figured it was my lack of sleep. & I guess because you say you think way too much, it must be stress your dealing with, if not. Just take my advice above, drink warm milk.

  3. The same used to happen me, its because you just cant shut your mind off or your scared. Concentrate on something happy that you'd like to happen such as a holiday and plan every little detail that you'd like to do there. Imagine the sunshine, the food you're going to eat, the new friends you'll meet, the things you will buy etc. This should send you off into a nice peaceful sleep. Also dont go to bed till about 11:30, nothing worse than going to bed early when you find it hard to sleep, you will NEVER sleep if your not tired!

  4. Maybe something is bothering you, or your scared of something, like maybe switch to a softer pillow, or comfyer blanket (i know i spelt that wrong) or something like that , try to make yourself more comfy, and if you eat at night you sleep faster!

  5. Hey this isn't like a medical proven answer but its something my family has done for a long time, About a half hour before you go to bed take a bath with a cup of Baking Soda in it, It is super relaxing and it has worked for me and my brother.

  6. start telling yourself a story about if i was rich, what you would buy, who you would help. by the time you spend all your money, you will be asleep, also, a cup of catnep tea, will help, judy

  7. well i kind of have the same problem and can go for weeks with out sleep it is really not health you do need to go see a doctor to get some serious help before you have some major health problems

Get up really early, or don't sleep for a day (24 hours) then the next night, go to bed at 11:00 P.M. and get up at a nice healthy morning time (7:00 A.M. or 8:00 A.M) This way you will be very tired that first night. The second night you'll also be tired because of how early you got up, continue the cycle, and I don't think you'll have a problem. :)

    Make sure that you don't eat 3 hours prior to your bed time, and don't drink anything with too much sugar or caffeine. (no coke, coffee, or tea....a lot of people think tea is good for going to bed, but it's not, not if it has caffeine... which they all do unless it says caffeine free...)

  9. It maybe your sleeping clock is out of synchronization.  Are you waking up later or are you taking naps during the day?  If so, your body may have already the needed energy to function and can't fall asleep because it's not tired enough.  You may need to wake up earlier and/or stop the naps.  

    If that is not the case, you may be stressed or thinking too much about something.  You may want to drink some Tilo tea or Chamomile tea and add some Valerian extract to it.  If you don't have Valerian extract they sell the herb pills in Publix or you can boil the herb and drink the water.  

    You may also consider making your room darker or using a cover over your eyes to sleep and reducing the temperature to make your room a little colder.  Also, you may want to breather under the covers for a while to reduce oxygen intake.  Our bodies release Carbon Dioxide and it makes us sleepy when we breathe it in, however, too much of it is dangerous.  I sleep with the covers over my head and I leave about a small opening to let in air.  I use to do this a lot and would fall asleep faster.  Avoid exercise, sugar, and any thing that stimulates energy a few hours before sleep.  

  10. You can try take a bath before bed, and then drink hot chocolate, and TRY to sleep, make yourself relax. Say to yourself you want to sleep. Don't think too much; be relax.

  11. try sneaking away to thestore for some sleeping aides.

    such as nighttime tylenol or nyquill.

    if you cant do that.. take some benadryll ,a full dosage! that has me sleepin...

  12. Are you stressed out? Think about it.... If you can't sleep your mind is thinking about something. It might not even be something your aware of. Ask yourself, is anything bothering me?
