I'm 14, 5'0" and weigh about 123. I want to weigh about 110 or 115, at most. I eat when I'm bored and I'll eat soo much junk food. I've tried to stop eating but I just can't! When i'm hungry, I'M HUNGRY! You know? And we don't have the money to go shopping for healthy foods.

What can I do to distract me from food?

  1. instead of eating junk food, just eat fruit or veggies.

you can eat the same amount, feel better, and weigh less

  2. Then just stop getting bad foods, and before you eat, determine if it's because you're bored or hungry.

  3. Who cares what the scale says? It's just numbers...

Food is an amazing thing - I eat ALL THE TIME! But, why don't you just pick up some fruits and veggies, and crackers as snacks, if you're that concerned. They're cheap, and yummy.

  4. it cant be that bad, if you excercise regullarly and try eating healthier you would be fine, and 123 isnt fat, if your under 200 your still in the healthy range, and try doing something you enjoy to get your mind off eating, keep busy, maybe get a job or go rrunning or hang with your freinds, anything that will keep you occupide for a while

  5. First off, you're hardly busting your trousers at a weight of 123 lbs. So don't get too hung up on losing weight. You should be more worried about the health-related consequences consuming large amounts of junk food might have.

At times we believe we're hungry when we're simply just thirsty. When you feel the hunger pangs creeping, try have a couple of glasses water and see if you're still hungry afterwards.

Also keep in mind that meats are (at least in most parts of Europe) equivalent to the cost of vegetables and fruit (if not more expensive). Common fruits and veg such as apples, bananas, oranges, potatoes, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, peas and carrots don't break the bank and can be bought in small amounts if a few kilos are not affordable.

If you still would rather not modify your diet, try exercising by walking and running. It should help you shift some weight. But as I said, 123lbs is far from an unhealthy weight.

  6. Buy a dress that you really like in the size that you want to be and hang it up where you can see it. When you feel like bingeing on junk, just look at the dress and tell yourself if you eat like that you'll never get to wear it.

  7. Is there a safeway near you? Safeway is basically a store made for people that can't afford organic/more high priced health foods. It's aimed at seniors who don't have a regular income, so the prices are half that of regular stores, and they always have sales. My dad went there to buy some baking ingredients, and said he paid something like a quarter the usual amount. (We usually go to Andronicos).

EXERCISE that's the key. Exercise, and eat well. Try putting post it notes around the house, especially on the fridge and in the kitchen that remind you "EAT LESS". Find something to do when you're bored. Try reading, or hey, get your mom to teach you to cook some good food that's healthier. Then you'll have the experience so next time, instead of grabbing something quick, you'll have to think if you really are hungry enough to spend the time cooking.

  8. Gum, perhaps. But, on the other hand, it'll be encouraging you to keep "chewing," so you won't lose the habit.

Do something active where you can't eat -- volunteer, go to chuch, take a walk in the park.

  9. Before you eat, ask yourself, "Am I actually hungry or just bored?" And, although you don't have money to buy good foods now, you have to go grocerie shopping sometime. When you do, don't buy junk food and buy  healthy foods. Maybe they're a little more expencive, but without buying all the junk food you normally do, you'll probably be able to afford it. And, EXCERSIZE! That's a really important key to losing weight. Any more questions you can email me. Hope I helped!

  10. buy an xbox 360 and it will distract you, also buy some bottled water throughout the day.

  11. drink a bottle of water before you eat this fills you up and yourll eat less

eat unbuttered popcorn its cheap and low in calories

if your bored go run or play soccer dont eat out of boredom

  12. i have this problem. just think aobut if u really are hungry or not. and if u r and ur about to go for the potato chips, for for the apple. exercise and dont think of it as a diet, just think of it as eating healthy. u have to eat for the right reasons. stay away from sugar and carbs and fat. check the labels. ask urself if its worth that one bag of chips. if u choose the apple, u will feel better cuz u kno u did the right thing. and whenu go to the store, u say u dont have enough money for health foods. u would if u wouldnt buy so much junk. trade the twinkies for bananas. ==]]

  13. i have the same proble but I'm 5'6 and about 20 pounds more than you. drink water whenever you are hungry, it has no calories and will fill you up, or go swimming thats a fun way to burn up calories!
