I can't stop laughing.

it's like a disorder ! i laugh at everything. and it always gets me in trouble. what are techniques to contain your laughter?

  3. Maybe you're just a ridiculous, empty-headed teenage girl who is so oblivious to any of the tragedy going on in the world outside of your upper-middle class bubble that you wouldn't even know what Darfur was if it wasn't cool to care about it. Call me cynical, but you can't escape the truth.

  13. I used to have the same problem!

    I love to act, and sometimes, during a scene when I am supposed to be sleeping, or keep a straight face when the line is excrutiatingly hilarious, I want to laugh sooo bad. But the thing that works the best for me is to move. Wiggle your foot, shake your hand, do anything that involves moving. If you have to be subtle about it, move your teeth up and down like you are chewing or wiggle your fingers. Also, think to yourself like you are yelling, "DO NOT LAUGH RIGHT NOW. YOU ARE JUSt GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE, SO CONTROL IT. JUST WAIT."

    Clearing your throat or coughing hard sometimes helps too. Hope this helps!

  14. it's not a disorder. i laugh at everything like you too, so you're not alone. it just means you're easily amused and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

  17. i have the same issue! But don't hate it, embrace it. I think that people who laugh more are much more fun!

  19. That's funny. You made me laugh just reading that.

    It may be because you're nervous, excited, happy, scared, any number of things could contribute to that. One of my best friends ever used to laugh like that, and that's one of the reasons why I loved her, because not only did she laugh at just about everything, she could see the bright side of just about any bad situation, and get the person going through it to laugh at it, too. She was a real treasure.

    Do me 2 favors:

    1) Always use your laughter for good -don't laugh at things that would hurt someone or that they are sensitive about- that's not funny, that's cruel. To contain your laughter in that situation, just think of how you would feel if someone laughed at you in a similar situation.

    2)Leave people who don't treasure your happy-go-lucky spirit ALONE.

    My wonderful friend, one of my best friends for most of my life, a ray of sunshine to just about everyone who knew her let herself get into 2 different abusive relationships - the 1st guy hit her, the 2nd one killed her. As to her murder, no one still knows why, her killer couldn't even explain, we do know he had been abusive, and she either was breaking up with him, or already had.

    While some may see what you have as an annoyance, it can be a real gift.

  20. Deep breaths work pretty well. If you know something is going to make you laugh, try to clear your head and just focus on your breathing.

    I had this problem a lot in high school. haha.

  21. try biting your tongue, that helps me.  you don't have to bite hard, just to hold you tongue in place so you don't laugh

  22. When you want to laugh at something just think of some sad moments that will make you wanna cry that way you will look normal and silent.
