I can't update my avg anti virus 8 it won't update how do i fix this problem without installing a new antivir?

my avg won't update when i click update now it does nothing.do i have a virus is that why i can't update? i tryed reinstalling it and repairing it but it still won't update whats wrong with it?

Why don't you ask AVG they are usually quite helpful.  Go to the AVG button you should have and highlight HELP and go on from there to the customer support team.

You need to completely uninstall it first, then reinstall. It can play up if it finds any previous trace on your PC. Go to grisoft's own site to get your new freebie download.

AVG 8 is PANTS.  Seriously, it's bloated and nowhere near as useful as previous versions.  You can stick with it, but I would be considering alternatives.

If it cannot update it is because your internet link is cutting out for a sec or it can't get a link to the net.

I have the same version, and occasionally the same problem.

I used to think it was my connection, but I guess, hearing your question, that it isn't.

Does it go to the downloading files now screen then just sit there?

If so, try just leaving it for a few hours then trying again. This has worked for me on at least ,um, five or six occasions.

things that may help

1) check Internet connection (if wireles go as close to the router as possible or use eternet

2)manually download from www.avg.com I think

3)try going into a different admin account

4)turn off all other firewalls
