I have firefox 3 and I'm running ubuntu. It won't let me watch videos on ebaumsworld.com . it never gives me errors, just a small blank area with no video in it. Also on some other websites, it streams the video without the normal control buttons in the window(play/pause, tracking bar, volume etc.). There is no way to fastforward or rewind these. It has no problems with youtube. All the normal things work.

  1. It looks like ebaumsworld uses Flash video.  Youtube does as well, but maybe they encode their videos differently.  Make sure you have the Multiverse repository enabled and then install flashplugin-nonfree in Synaptic.  You probably have one of the open source plugins enabled that works with Youtube, but isn't fully Flash compliant.

  2. Sometimes some videos are set up just to run on explorer.  So check that end out.
