<p><strong>I can adjust to different situations: de Villiers – Cricket News Update</strong></p>
<p>South African batsman AB de Villiers, who is currently associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the current ongoing 5th season of the Indian Premier League, shuns the label of a “finisher”, saying he prefers to think of himself as the
sort of player who can adjust to all kinds of situations.</p>
<p>“I won't say I'm a finisher of the game. I'd like to think of myself as a guy who can play anywhere, that's something I've worked on in my whole career. I'd like to be a guy that can adjust to certain situations and that's something I strive for.”</p>
<p>The 28-year-old recently displayed his ability to adapt as he won the Player of the Match award for his quick-fire 47 off 17 in the Royal Challengers’ most recent match, against the Deccan Chargers on May 6 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, which
the hosts won by 5 wickets.</p>
<p>The Challengers were set a 182-run chase by the visitors, and appeared to be cruising as openers Chris Gayle (26) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (71) established a steady 91-run stand, which came to an abrupt end in the 11th over. The situation appeared
to get worse with two dismissals (Virat Kohli and Asad Pathan) in the 14th over, which left the home team at 106 for 3.</p>
<p>The Challengers’ dire situation escalated by the time they reached the 18th over, with 39 runs required off 18 balls. However, some quick and effective hitting by de Villiers got the team safely to 185 with 7 deliveries remaining.</p>
<p>The highlight of the right-hander’s performance was undoubtedly the 18th over, during which he hit countryman Dale Steyn for 23 runs, including 4 boundaries. He was aided in his efforts by youngster Mayank Agarwal, who scored 18 off 6 balls.</p>
<p>“I enjoyed the situation tonight, I came in [with] 80 [to get] off 40-odd balls. I knew what was required and played to that kind of game plan and, like I said before, my game plan paid off tonight. On another night it might not, so I took full advantage
tonight,” de Villiers said.</p>
<p>The win elevated the Challengers to the fifth spot on the tournament points table, and puts them in an optimal position to secure a place in the playoffs, as they prepare for their next match, this time against the Mumbai Indians on May 9.</p>
