I was browsing and noticed a lot of people asking if it is possible to control what happens in your dream. I do this fairly often and never really thought about it. I was told if you can do this you aren't sleeping well. Is this something people at sleep centers want to study? How uncommon is this? any information is helpful.

  1. If you can alter parts of your dreams or can hear your own thoughts from outside of the dream you arent in a deep sleep. your between states of the concious and unconcious. Im pretty sure they have already, or are exploring this. Thi has also happened to me on occasion

  2. U R so fortunate! This is generally known as Lucid Dreaming, and most people have to study and practice diligently to attain to what you seem to take for granted. LD is not affected by how well you sleep: it is a kinda specialized facility to govern the content of your dream life.

The operating manual for LD is "Creative Dreaming" by Patricia Garfield, Ph.D ISBN 0-345-24955-0-175 Pub. 1976, Balllantine Books- good luck finding a copy, may be OOP. Aside from that, dial up 'lucidity.com' (kinda commercial) or 'ld4all.com' for the current thinking on LD. This is a fairly hot topic these days, as most folks see LD as some superior talent to be acquired for personal development. IDK.

I don't know what would interest the sleep centers, mainly concerned with the regularity and quality of sleep- dreams are somewhat OT for

    them.

I regard LD as a problem-solving measure, a means of sorting out fact from fiction, or sizing up alternatives for future decisions. Aside from that, I'm sure you know LD can produce some other-worldly adventures. Whether it involves ESP or astral projection, again IDK.

  3. Call the Sleep Center in your town and offer your services.

And get outside and get  lot more exercise.  You are weaker than you should be.
