I can hear clicks on my desktop with nothing runing ...does anyone know why?

Explain in more detail please!  Are you leaving your computer in sleep mode? Do you really completely turn off the computer?  Clicks noise is probably an activity of the hard disk drive.  Or are you hearing click from you mouse button that you press?

You probably have a hard drive ready to fail.  You should back up all the data on your HD right away.

It could also be something running in the back (check the task manager) which is periodically accessing the hard drive for short periods of time.

Your computer has been affect by this XP Antivirus 2008.  You should download a spy-ware or ad-ware remover as soon as possible to clean your computer system.  Otherwise, this problem persist forever.
