I can never start doing things? motivation?

I can never motivate myself to start doing my homework, or start to learn the guitar (like actually find a teacher...) and well there's loads of things, but the point is, is there a good way to get yourself motivated before doing something? I can never get in the mood for doing my Art coursework, it really pisses me off because it's not that I don't want to do it, I just can't do it. Can't get round to doing it.

Am I just being lazy?!

I think it's a real problem.. lack of motivation.

Any tips/advice/help very much appreciated. =] xx

  1. It may be hard to motivate yourself if you do not want or see the need to do something. If you enjoy songs with prominent guitar pieces, listen to them and try to play them on your guitar (but don't be discouraged that you don't sound like Jimi Hendrix from the get go). If you don't feel like doing art, come up with an idea that would be fun to draw/paint and do it, even if it doesn't fit in with your coursework. The more passionate you are about something, the more you will enjoy doing it. Even trivial assignments may entertain you if you go above and beyond the requirements. If that doesn't work, then perhaps you need to look forward to something. You're doing the boring art assignment so that one day you may paint what you really want. But you need to find your own source of motivation that will work for you.

  2. I'm kind of the same way, especially with the guitar thing. I find the best way to motivate myself lately is to go on youtube and watch videos of my fav guitarist doing an interview, or a special on kickboxing and I kind of get inspired and want to do thous things again. Also this will sound weird, but a proper diet and healthy foods might change your energy level and enthusiasme nough to get you motivated easier. I find when Im living off ccoffeeand pizza pockets im always too lazy and tired to do anything.

  3. Plan time - by that I mean 1 hr homework, 10 mins off.

1 hr guitar, 10 mins off - and so on until your time is allotted to each of the things you have or should achieve.

In each of your breaks, have a favourite drink & snack (compensation! and also for extra energy).

Try to focus - focus - focus on each topic so that you can finish all you have to do WITHIN the 1 hr target. The extra time you saved is added to your 10 mins off. (legitimate cheating time!).

Hope this helps. Best wishes. UK
