Question:

I can not do a backspin! (figureskating) I have been on the same level for like 3 months.?

I can do everything else in the level and almost everything in the next 2 levels but that backspin is holding me back! Any tips?

  1. It took me over 2 years just to be able to do a 5 rev standing backspin. It's hard to master, but once you get good at it, I actually find them easier to stabilize and can get over 15 revs on them without travelling.

    The trick to speed them up is to stand right at where the rocker is on the blade, the rest depends on a strong edge on the entry that is only obtained skating for over 5 years. Back sits aren't that much harder than standing back spins. Now the back camel on the other hand... Uhhhh... I still can't get the minimum required 5 revs on those.


  2. don't worry that happened to me before, but i got over it. you just have to really keep that left leg RIGHT in front of ur right leg. push the right knee really straight, and pull the right arm back, while the left one is in front of you. before pulling, in for the spin, make sure that you are completely comfortable in the position that you are in. it just took a great amount of time for me to get used to the backspin
