I can not get the pump from my septic tank nor identify the problem.

I have a septic tank that overflowed into the house. I tried to pull the pump out but it got stuck and now won't budge. Any ideas???

  1. Before taking the pump all the way out have you tested it to see if it is the problem and not an electrical one? If so, I would take a 5 gallon bucket and bail the tank out until you can see to work on it if you can. It is going to be alot of water so you must have a spot to dump it. If you can, have the tank pumped but this may not need to be done to effect the repair. But it would give you some more time to do the work and still use the indoor plumbing.  Obviously there are sanitary issues here that will need to be addressed later. And if there are irate neighbors. When you can see to work there is usually some removable fittings or hoses that will need to be disconnected. Usually there is a provision to replace the pump and they did not just put in solid fittings. Also in this is the power wire so a trip to the breakers is in order to shut them down. I assume that you have already addressed this. I hope this helps.
