  1. speed i would help more but i can't land my single

  2. make sure you carry enough speed into the jump to take off at a decent height, and don't back off. Make sure you also bend your knees a little bit.

  3. Without seeing your jump, it's hard to say what the problem is but some common errors include lack of speed going into the jump, not enough knee bend, not checking the skating shoulder on the takeoff, jumping into the circle so that you are over rotating before you take off, not jumping high enough to get all the way around, not pulling in tightly enough once you are in the air, bending too much at the waist, and lettng your free hip drop on the landing.

If you can have somebody video tape you, you might be able to tell what is going wrong.  Does your rink have a jump harness to help you get the feel of jumping up and rotating without killing yourself by falling?

Good luck.  It's a difficult jump to learn and can take many months to perfect.

  4. Make sure that you aren't dropping your shoulder, make sure you have a good speed, and make sure that you bend those knees prior to take-off.  I never did make it to a double axle, but when I had trouble landing my single, it was because I was dropping my shoulder.  Also, ask if you can use the jump harness.  It might help...

Sorry, I just saw that somebody said this already....anyway, good luck and keep trying.  You'll get it eventually.

  5. Practice a waltz jump into a back scratch spin. You can ask to try going onto a harness. Just the feel of it makes me want to hurl, but it does really help you. It makes you think that your getting more help, but you really aren't if your coach just lets go of the rope. Also try lifting your left knee up higher. Also try really pulling your arms in. It is really hard to land a double axel, and some skaters quit then. Just belive!

Good Luck on Your Double Axel!!!!

  6. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

    1. TRY your axel on ground

    2. TRY your axel from a stand still on ice.

    3. TRY your axel from back crossovers on ice.

TRY THESE AS STEPS PRACTICE EACH STEP A FEW TIMES BEFOR YOU GO ON TO YOUR NEXT STEP!
