I can only afford one holiday abroad a year. Am I poor?

Poverty is relative.

In the country I live in, practically 85% cannot take one overseas holiday. Not only because they cannot afford it, but because neighbouring countries restrict visa entries.

Australians are so lucky for they don not experience closed frontiers. An Australian passport can get you into most countries without a visa . Even when visas apply , itis still quite easy.

Imagine being in a country and desperately wanting to travel, but being unable to do so!!!

Ms Maud the famous anthropologist.....said she found the pygmies of Congo were the most contented people and she considers them as the richest. So contentment has every thing to do whether you consider your self to be poor or not

who are you measuring yourself against?  If you compare yourself to the people assisted by Mother Theresa, you are extremely wealthy...if you measure yourself against Madonna, you don't stack up....it is all relative.  But who cares? Enjoy your holiday and be happy and content that you can!

depends where you go.  if it's a weekend in a caravan in Blackpool, then yeah you are poor, if it's 2 weeks cruising in the Caribbean, then i'd say not so much.  I used to have at least 4 foreign holidays a year, but i've moved to Australia, and it's kind of hard to go anywhere that's close.  I used to go to England all the time (i never counted that as a holiday), but mostly i'd spend time in Amsterdam, and i'd go there 4 times a year, and i'd sometimes go to the USA if the mood took me.  Air travel is so cheap now adays.

and i'm dirt poor.  used to only make 10 euros an hour at home.  just a good saver
