I have these places suggested but it is a problem to choose when you can only have one choice: Tikal? Lake Atitlan? Quetzaltenango?Panajache?

I like both History and Mountains.

  1. it seems like you are an adventurous person... why not go to the philippines for mountain climbing and site seeing.... or some places in europe to satisfy ur hunger for history... ull see many historical places... hope i helped yah...

  2. Definitely Lake Atitlan! You'd get to see different Mayan villages along its shore, including Panajachel, San Jorge, Santa Cruz, Jalbalito, Tzununa, San Marcos, San Juan, San Pablo, San Marcos, San Pedro, Santiago Atitlan, Cerro de Oro, San Lucas, San Antonio, and Santa Catarina. You also get to see/climb 3 majestic volcanoes (Atitlan, Toliman, and San Pedro).

  3. I agree with lake Atitlan but if you do have time then go to Tikal as well it is something special. I wouldn't go to Quetzaltenango (normally called Xela) it is not a very touristic area meaning there is not much to see. It is a great city and I lived there myself for 3 months and loved it there, but what i heard from people just being tourists there for a few days it is quite boring with not much to do.

In the Lake Atitlan area you can get a good experience and feeling of Guatemala, but you shouldn't stay in Panajachel it is also called gringojachel since it is crowded with tourists. But find some of the small villages around the lake and you will have a great trip. You can get to most of them by boat and you can board in Panajachel this way you can spend and hour there and then take a boat to some more interesting places.

  4. I have traveled to Guatemala and I fell in love with the country. We were going to go to Panjachel but didn't have the chance to go. I would recommend going there because it's supposed to be wonderful. My second choice would be Lake Atitlan because I've heard great things about that as well.

    Buena suerte y buen viaje!

  5. Panajachel it is so beautiful and i am from there everything is so cheap

  6. Panajachel is located on Lake Atitlan, so I would go with that choice.  It's almost like get to see two of your options, lol.

Panajachel is one of the villages located on the shores of Lake Atitlan.  It is absolutely beautiful.   You don't have to be a fan of History to enjoy Tikal, but Lake Atitlan is far more beautiful and easier to get to by car.
