  1. I can relate. Solos are a ***** to learn, but they're doable. My teacher told me to break down a solo into managable pieces, so it's easier to practice and not so scary. (ie. work on one measure at a time, adding on one more measure after successfully mastering the one before it.) It takes a lot of work and is a little frustrating, but once you can play a solo, it's pretty amazing. You feel accomplished.

  2. ive been playing for a year and a half and i play that type of stuff. like the guy above me said, go on ultimate-guitar.com and search for the song you want. most of the time, the solo looks really confusing with all these h's and p's and /'s all over the place, but just try it part by part. then listen to the song while you look at what frets to do, maybe finger it on your guitar, and keep practicing. you can also search on youtube and there are usually some videos playing it slow for you. hope this helps

  3. i still have the same problem and i been playing for over 3 yrs. some eddie van halen solos i just get totaly lost. i know how u feel. but u cant give up. i helps to listen to the solo a few time before u even pick up ur guitar. what i do is i start playing few note at a time. eventually u will get and idea of how to play it. i dont know its kinda hard to explain. but keep praticing and dont give up.

oh yeah check this video of me playing a van halen cover

  4. Ahhh... The classic conundrum... Well, when it comes to playing one of Angus or Page's solos, you better be willing to work hard. For some great tabs, check out www.ultimate-guitar.com. They've got thousands of tabs, if not millions. If worst comes to worst, learn yourself some minor pentatonic scales and improvise. Most of Angus Young's solo's aren't too hard to get the initial feel of. Good Luck!
