Maybe you are receiving the Digest message format?

I noticed that on the groups where I am on Digest, I need to click reply, then manually edit it back to the right group mailing address or the post will bounce.

unless there's group rules about it, you can. I have a member who never replies, she alwats starts a new post to reply
